About the Barbados Dance Council (BDC)

The Barbados Dance Council (BDC) was founded in 2001 through the efforts of Livingstone Alleyne, who envisioned Barbados joining the World Dance Council (WDC). To realise this vision, he called all qualified dance teachers on the island to a meeting to establish a national body that would raise the standard of Ballroom and Latin dance in Barbados and seek international recognition through competitions. As a direct result of establishing the BDC, Barbados successfully became a member of the World Dance Council (WDC) in 2003. The WDC is the global governing body for international Ballroom and Latin championships and competitions.
